Celebrating Kugels and Collards

We haven’t posted a blog lately since we’ve been keeping busy with interviews, parties, and all the demands that come with being newly published authors. And what an adventure it has been!

Since the book’s release on August 29, there has been a lot of press coverage, including articles in Garden & Gun and Southern Living. The Press page of the website has links to all of the articles and podcasts featuring Kugels & Collards, and it is updated regularly. The updates will continue, as we have a calendar peppered with interviews and events.

Speaking of events, Historic Columbia hosted our Columbia Book Launch Party on October 6. Celebrating the release of Kugels & Collards in our hometown amongst friends and book collaborators was magical and memorable. This was the second Launch Party, as we held a smaller, private gathering in Charleston on September 10. Both of these events were special in their own ways, and we truly enjoyed seeing old friends and making some new ones along the way.

In the seven weeks since the book’s release, public feedback has been so warm and positive. We continue to hear how the stories shared in our book are making people reflect upon their own food traditions, and work to more closely examine how they came into existence and what factors influenced their development. Who knows, maybe throughout this process we will see another interesting intersection of foodways worth exploring!

In closing, we’d like to thank you all for your support. Whether it’s been following the blog, buying the book, attending an event, or reading an article, we are grateful that you choose to savor the stories we’ve shared.
